Instructions

Are you intimidated by the thought of making a bow?

Have I got GREAT news for you!!

Let me show you how to make an EASY, QUICK, and yet the CUTEST bow ever!

I call this the “Crisscross Bow,” and you will soon see how it received its name.

Also it’s the perfect way to use those small pieces of ribbon that normally you would just toss in the trash. That’s a “win-win” because no one likes to throw away beautiful ribbon.

Bows just add another level to anything from a gift to a wreath …well literally ANYTHING.

  • Gather several different textures, sizes, and colors of ribbon. Mismatched ribbons along with a  variety of color and designs make the bow so much more interesting! You do not need wired ribbon to make this bow.

  • Start with the widest ribbon for the base of your bow. A neutral colored burlap is a great base.  Lay 2 pieces down in a crisscross pattern. It’s your choice how long the pieces need to be, depending on the size bow for your project.

  • Cut two strips the same length of each ribbon you will be using. You can also use more than one layer of the same ribbon. It’s your choice… YOU are the designer here.

  • Layer your pieces making a stack crisscrossing each choice of ribbon.

  • Mix the colors, designs, textures, and width of ribbon ~ keeping them the same length.

  • A variety of colors and designs give depth to the layers. The amount of crisscrosses is up to you.

  • When the stack is complete, secure your ribbons with another thin piece of ribbon by wrapping around the center of crisscrosses so it gathers them together and tie it tight in the back.

LOOK at YOU!

  • You just made a bow. The next step is simply to pull the ribbons into place and fluff the ribbons the way your desire.

  • The final step to give a finished look is to “duck tail” the ends of ribbons: simply fold each ribbon in half and cut from the center of the fold to end of the ribbon. This step is totally optional - depending on the occasion I’ve finished them with duck tails or even frayed the ends of the ribbon for more of a rustic look.

That’s it!! Who knew making a bow with pieces you would have normally trashed could be so CUTE!!

Attach your “designer” bow to your gift, craft, wreath, gift bag, or anywhere else needs the special finishing touch.

Remember…..I told you it was easy and YOU could do it!!
