5 Apps You Should Try In Your Devotion Time

By: Bradyn Ouellette

If you’re anything like me, you love finding new resources that will help you during your devotion time. I especially enjoy discovering new apps to use so I can take them everywhere I go! Below are some apps that I use in my devotion time that I have found to be beneficial and easy to use.

Somethings to keep in mind before moving forward:

  • I do not use these apps every day! Some days I will simply stick to my Bible reading plan, or choose which specific app would be best for me that day.

  • While these tools are Bible-based, they are not a substitute for the Bible! They are simply tools in your study of the Word.

With that being said, here are 5 apps I use that you should try in your morning devotion time!

  1. Enduring Word Bible Commentary - The Enduring Word App is a collection of Bible commentaries in one location. I use the app after reading scripture to dig deeper into my understanding. The app has commentary for each chapter and verse throughout the Bible. My favorite part of the app is that it will cross-reference scripture in blue hyperlinked letters in the commentary sections to give further evidence.

2. Daily Grace - Daily Grace is a blog-type app based on The Daily Grace Co. My favorite part about the app is the weekly devotions. The devotions are posted on the homepage of the app and cover a wide variety of topics. The app also offers Bible studies from The Daily Grace Co. website in an electronic version, but they require in-app purchases. If you are leery about purchasing the Bible study, you have the option to try the Bible study with a free trial! There are some free Bible studies on the app as well.

3. Focus on the Family - Focus on the Family is a global Christian ministry that is dedicated to helping families thrive. The app is a central location for the many podcasts and broadcast networks it supports. On the app, you will find marriage resources, parenting resources, and even resources for the little ones like episodes of “Adventures in Odyssey” and “The Official Average Boy Podcast” which focuses on boys 8-12. Each episode is packed with faith-building fun, family entertainment, and valuable lessons found in the Bible.

4. Dwell - Dwell is an app that helps you meditate on specific passages of scripture or whole chapters of books of the Bible. One special thing about Dwell is that they offer numerous different Bible reading plans that will take you through the whole Bible. My favorite thing about this app is the “Holy Ordinance” section which has scripture playlists for life’s everyday moments.

5. Touch Bible - Touch Bible is great for those who are looking for in-depth study and hunting for original text meaning. It is very much like StudyLight.org, but Touch Bible allows you to bookmark and save past scriptures that you have studied. If you are going to download Touch Light, make sure it is the +KJV HD version in the app store!

I hope this inspired you to try some new study apps! If you decide to try one of these apps or know of any apps that I didn’t list above, visit us on Facebook or Instagram and let us know! We would love to hear from you.
