The WHY? Behind Following Titus 2

The WHO Behind Following Titus 2

WOW. It seems like I woke up one day and was 58 years old…. Two years from 60. I’ve gotta tell ya girls, 60 is old (in my mind) and yet, I don’t feel old. I’m struggling with this number on an age thing. (Lol). And I’ve truly realized how quickly ti…

WOW. It seems like I woke up one day and was 59 years old…. almost 60. I’ve gotta tell ya girls, 60 is old (in my mind) and yet, I don’t feel old. I’m struggling with this number on an age thing. (Lol). And I’ve truly realized how quickly time flies. We’ve been in San Antonio 20 (TWENTY!) YEARS!

During our tenure at Calvary Church my role has also evolved throughout the years. Our first service at Calvary consisted of 11 people, 8 pews and a tiny little building, but LOTS of potential. It was definitely “God ordained”. I have implemented almost every department within our Church throughout the years, until recently. Thankfully, we have grown to a point that I no longer lead worship on the platform, but now from the pew, usually with four little ones I’m trying to corral. Sometimes it’s quite a zoo!!!

I realized, I had a choice…

I can lay aside the ministry I love so much or refocus, but how?

My Time…My Place… My Season has changed.

That’s not bad, it’s life, how will I embrace it?

Through prayer Following Titus 2 was born in my heart. I love Ladies Ministry, YOU are my people, I “get” you, and in one season or another in my life, I’ve probably even walked in your shoes. And if I haven’t, I have a sisterhood of friends that has and they will be sharing this space with me from time to time.

I am so proud of the younger generation. (THAT’S YOU!). 😀
You have a desire and resources to be better than us. Do greater things than us!

But it won’t happen by accident, you will have to stretch yourself to grow and learn, which takes self-discipline. One of the greatest nuggets of wisdom my father, Richard Johnson, left me was “Gena, always surround yourself with people greater than you, learn from them, and put it into practice in your life.” That’s what I want to encourage you to do - hey! You’re doing it! Not only here at FT2, but in other areas of your life. I commend you!

So thank you for joining me on my journey of Following Titus 2.

It will be a variety of topics along the way and I always welcome your input.

Gena.

“Always surround yourself with people greater than you, learn from them, a put it into practice in your life.”

— Richard Johnson

“teach the older women to live in a way that honors God. They must not slander others or be heavy drinkers. Instead, they should teach others what is good. These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, to live wisely and be pure, to work in their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God.”
Titus 2:3-5 NLT
