Honoring Mom Through Decor

WHERE would we be without “her”?

Needless to say,  we wouldn’t be here!

I no longer have my Mother on this earth but don’t stop reading here… there’s advice for those who do and you don’t want to miss it!

Mother’s Day is one of my favorite times to add Mom around my home  through decor.  Items that were hers and now are priceless treasures to me.

Most of the time they are tucked safely away but this time of year they find their way to the front of my decor.

Simple items like her rolling pin and glass dishes she used only for very special occasions.

Another treasure, a cookbook splattered with stains, curled pages and worn but tucked inside is a handwritten note and signed “Mother” from  General Conference 1992.

What a Treasure!

I also enjoy a ornate white pitcher that belonged to my precious Mother in law.  I inserted faux greenery and tucked “handwritten” recipes into  the greenery.

These things bring sweet smiles and memories of such good times - realizing life is truly a vapor.

My Mom always sewed. Here is some of her collection of buttons - I chose all white ones and placed them in a container along with a brooch she wore often.

The hand and angel was something I gave her when she was diagnosed with cancer. It spoke volumes of where we were in our journey… resting in His hand.

It still gives me strength when life’s road gets a little bumpy.

Vintage pictures are so much fun to add.

This pic is my beautiful Mother and her Mother, they were just 17 years apart.

Her Bible! By looking at it you know it was used. I add it to my hutch where it’s safe and protected but at a glance walking by  reminds me of my great heritage.

My first and last pic with her.  Just home from hospital- then a few short months before she graduated life.

If you are privileged to still have your Mom… here’s your assignment!

Get HANDWRITTEN recipes.

Spend the day with her and make fun memories as she writes your favorite recipes, family history information, or funny stories or events.

One day- it will not be possible to get such wonderful treasures.

Happy Mother’s Day sweet ladies!
