Flags, Fire Works & Bottled Coke

July 4th is such a meaningful holiday and you guessed it- I enjoy the FUN holiday decor sprinkled throughout my home.

Nothing difficult or expensive and that makes it a WIN WIN!!!!

A few Dollar Tree finds, piece of fabric, homemade items, after Christmas sale items and the best part…a covered dish that was my Grandmother’s, along with dominoes from my hubby’s childhood, all because they are wait for it …RED!

Shop your house first- many things can be used in other ways than what they were “originally” designed for.

*Flags are from Dollar Tree as well as the chain of beads & star hangers

*Paper fan is from an after Christmas 90% off sale from Hobby Lobby

*Cotton fabric from Walmart

*Old books from Goodwill

One favorite place to decorate is my hutch (it was my Mother’s until her passing).

I started with a long piece of natural burlap for the bottom shelf. If it’s longer than the measurement of the area, the fabric will have body instead of it just laying flat. Next, I layered navy fabric with white stars. It was also longer than actual area to give fullness and dimension.

Next, insert several white dishes, and an old red & navy book inside one bowl. The white dishes pop against the navy fabric.

Added in the red and white paper fan.

Look at all the color!

The red, white, and blue salad plates were found at an after holiday sale several years ago at Sur la Table. I’ve also been known to use beautiful “paper” plates for the same idea….

No one will know they are paper but you - because I sure won’t tell! It’s fun to train yourself to “think outside the box”.

RED is a predominant holiday color so always be on the lookout.

Valentines, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, and Christmas all call for RED decor. Even if you find something out of season but on sale or clearance- grab it.

Let’s talk FIREWORKS!

I made mine out of wine corks, scrapbook paper, and jute.

The wine corks were purchased from Amazon.

So. Much. Fun!

The old fashioned bottles of COKE remind me of many FUN summer childhood memories.

These are very old … that makes them even more special.

Is there anything better than an icy GLASS bottle of COKE on a HOT July 4th celebration??

Simply place Coke bottles (even empty ones are perfect with a flag sticking out) on a white platter.

I purchased this one from Walmart years ago and scattered the “fireworks” around.

My Grandmother’s white mixing bowl with the beaters is a good base for added greenery & small flags inserted. It looks perfect on an old RED book for height.

Another white piece proudly holds a few flags and more beading - I love the splash of holiday flair it brings to my kitchen.

We must never forget we are “one nation under God”.

The sign was another Hobby Lobby sale find, and … thinking outside the “original purpose” I used a soft fabric scarf I no longer wear to drape above.

Happy decorating and celebrating!

Thanks for stopping by Graceful Home,

❤️Ruthie
