Hi friends - I am certainly no “Ruthie Tanner” so that should be an encouragement to you (lol) meaning, if I can do this… you can too! Join me today as I work on a refreshing new spring arrangement for my formal table. Thank you Ruthie for letting me share my idea this week.

I love a beautiful table! As I walk past my formal dining area it reflects the joy of each season. You may not have a formal table to set, but springboard from this idea, downsize it and use something similar to your existing dining table, bar or eating area. It makes everyone HAPPY!

Don’t be afraid to try different options!
I tried a couple of options that didn’t work for me.

I’ve used both of these foundational pieces before so I started with each, and wasn’t satisfied with the direction it was going so…. both were tossed to the side and I moved on. Don’t feel defeated if you try something and don’t like the way it’s coming together. Just keep working with what you have and it will eventually come together.

Aren’t these wood candle holders beautiful? My sister-in-law, MeloDee Alexander made them. Actually, her husband Darrell is the master woodsman but these were some of her handi crafts. Don’t limit candle holders to only candles! I’m using some small candle rings and cardinals that I bought at Canton. They were a little small so I clipped the ring and added some flowers and ribbons.

I also brought back some little mason jars and flowers from my spring decor last year. You’ll notice I decided not to use a table runner or foundation. I wanted a more clean look.

Using what you have.

We all like new things, but I’m pretty thrifty. I didn’t have time on this particular day to locate my spring placemats, so I made do with what I had. (Which doesn’t look springy at all!) But it’s early in the season and with the napkin rings, it will all come together.

One of the small thing I love about my formal table are the individual salt & pepper shakers.

Here’s a little fact about me, believe it or not, I typically don’t taste my food when I’m cooking! People find that hard to believe, but I really don’t. I don’t know why - I think most people do, but I usually just cook it and put it on the table. WHICH MEANS, it is not unusual for salt or pepper to be added. So, I love my individual salt & pepper shakers. They always come in handy.

Later this month I will get my spring placemats, napkins & rings and switch them out on the table.

Maybe you got snow this week and are still a few weeks away from spring flowers, but liven up your home and table area by setting up a pretty spring arrangement. I promise it will make your heart happy!

❤️ Blessings, Gena
