Bible Reading Plans for 2023

Recommended by Ashley Davis

Believe it or not, 2023 is RIGHT around the corner! While you may have considered some goals to focus on during this new season, have you decided what you’ll do during your Bible reading and study time?? Today, we’re giving you a few options and hoping one will be the right choice for you to kick off the new year.

THE BIBLE RECAP:

If you’re looking for an option for reading through the whole Bible in one year’s time, we (several of THE Women’s Bible Study writers and editors) recommend The Bible Recap. This plan takes you through a chronological reading of the Bible. It has a corresponding podcast and/or book that helps break down each day’s reading to increase your understanding. I think for any student of scripture, but especially to those new to the chronological Bible, the break down in the recap every day is super helpful.

READ THROUGH THE BIBLE IN A YEAR DEVOTIONAL:

If you’re looking to read through the whole Bible in one year’s time but you don’t want to read chronologically or Genesis to Revelation, you may enjoy this devotional for reading through the Bible. Each day assigns reading in the Old and New Testaments and in Psalms/Proverbs along with a short, encouraging devotional. I think this easily could have made one of our gift guides during the Christmas season had we spotted it sooner!

DAILY WALK DEVOTIONAL PODCAST:

If you’re looking for a Genesis-Revelation audio “reading” through the Bible experience, check out the Daily Walk Devotional Podcast. This podcast is part audio Bible part devotional with each daily episode only lasting about 13-20 minutes. With consistency, this would be an easy and convenient (but still edifying!) way to read the Bible in a year.

With our three recommendations, we do want to share one caveat. Many of the women on our team don’t read through the Bible every year. That’s partly why we’ve chosen some more unique, non-traditional options for reading through the Bible. Let us be clear: you do not have to read through the whole Bible in a year to be a good, Jesus-following Christian. Many of the women on the FT2 prefer studying one book of the Bible at a time. That’s an awesome way to get into God’s word. We have several editions of THE Women’s Bible study that focus on just that method.
