If you’re married, surely you know that praying for your husband is one of the most important things you can do for your marriage (and for him!), but have you ever felt stumped about just how to follow through with this command to pray for your spouse? In her book, The Power of a Praying Wife, Stormie Omartian gives practical, Biblical guidance for how to pray for your husband!

Each chapter of this book begins with a (usually) short explanation, story, or anecdote to make the topic relatable to the praying wife regarding her husband. This section is followed by a written prayer on the topic and “Power Tools.” These are verses specifically focused on the topic of the chapter that can aid in your prayers for your spouse in this designated area.

Chapter one of The Power of a Praying Wife starts off with the most apt and critical thing a wife should pray for concerning her husband: herself! Many a wife will come to this book looking for a recipe for how to make her husband change himself or a behavior that she finds displeasing - or maybe even sinful. At the end of the day, we wives cannot change our husbands! We can change ourselves, though. Often, an adjustment in our own perspective or behavior makes a huge difference in how we view our husband. Starting with the three crucial words, “Change me, Lord,” sets the stage for the rest of this book. If we are unwilling to surrender to God and change ourselves, our prayers for our husbands will lack the fervor and conviction we could have otherwise experienced. So first things first, let us wives be changed!

The following 29 chapters go on to guide wives in praying for their husband’s work, fears, health, priorities, attitude, and more! This book is conveniently broken into 30 chapters plus and introduction. They would be great to work through over the course of a month! Imagine the work God could do you in your husband and your marriage in that short amount of time.
