A Few Christmas Helps and Hacks

By: Ruthie Tanner

Beautifully wrapped gifts seem to be a bit of a lost art, and that hurts my heart.

Gift bags have taken over but I refuse to join that team.

If you don’t like to wrap gifts perhaps it’s because you are not starting with the proper supplies which is super important for a pretty end result.

A good sturdy box - not crushed or out of shape is a must.

Using thicker grade of paper

(NOT super thin) makes all the difference.

Dollar Tree paper is very thin and does not work well. Hobby Lobby, Target and Marshall’s has nice choices and grades of paper.

Wrapping all your gifts in the same paper makes a beautiful presentation under the tree.

I’ve also used two papers that coordinate but no more that two.

If you have little ones that love to help pass out gifts - here’s a fun thing for you.

Instead of name tags, attach a photo of the person receiving the gift. They can quickly pass them out without help.

If mailing gifts, a FUN surprise to receive is when the INSIDE of the mailing box is wrapped even with ribbon. When it’s opened SURPRISE…it’s another level of wonderful!

If you have a only one piece, top but no bottom of box - here’s how to make a box with the piece you have.

Fold over to one side and crease

Then fold to other side and crease

Glue down tabs on each side - After cutting at the four creases - then fold and you have a box!

And … how about adding “ping pong balls” to your Christmas tree lights. Not to every light but spaced throughout your tree gives an upscale decor look.

Simply make a slit in the ball with knife and push light bulb into ball.

Awwww what a difference!

Hope you find some of these ideas helpful for the season.
