The Christmas season can become a busy time and any reminder to slow down and remember the reason we are celebrating the holiday is worth adding to our daily routine! Bring on the Merry is a 25-day devotion and journal that encourages you to spend time remembering the joy of Christmas season through the story of Jesus’s birth, reflective journal prompts, and even classic Christmas stories that help reinforce that day’s devotion.

Each entry contains a short devotion that keeps you in His word during the Christmas season. The devotions tackle topics such as serving others, dealing with difficult personalities, and comparing yourself to what others are doing during the holiday season. These devotions all tie back to the story of Jesus’s birth and those surrounding Him during that time.

The devotions are followed by a classic Christmas story that is uplifting and fills you with the “merry” that we can sometimes lose in the busy tasks that fill our holiday calendar. Most of these stories are nostalgic (think The Gift of the Magi) but you will most likely find one or two new ones that you will want to share with your family.

After the story, there is always a unique journaling prompt. Some of the prompts include a pie chart you complete to help you prioritize your time, a gratitude list, a survey that helps you see where God can use you in His kingdom, scripture reflection, more. Because the journal is different every day, you’ll be excited to open it and see what each day holds.

Along with everything already mentioned, this book also contains poems and Christmas carols sprinkled throughout. It also has beautiful colors and graphics. It would be a great option for the month of December, and you’ve got time to order it before the first!

Audience: Women

Usefulness Rating: Women of all ages would enjoy this book added into their December devotion times.
